Why we feel alone?
How to sing in harmony
We feel alone because we put our safety in others’ hands, and when they drop it like a hot pan, we feel betrayed.
But they didn’t know what they were holding.
If we can’t feel safe in our hearts, no one can reach us.
The antidote is carrying our own safety. We stop relying on the dial of a stranger’s smile. We know we’re safe because we know we are.
Then we can keep company without using them as a swaddle.
Our exhausted resentment softens into inner equilibrium.
Shakiness becomes outer presence, and a love that’s real — because we are.
We begin to sing in harmony when we stop using others as our metronome.
Warmly,
Lucas
